What’s in the mix?
The key to any good homemade Chex Mix is in the add-ins! It’s almost like the Chex are the cookie and all the add-ins are the chocolate chips, so the more the better in my opinion!
Chex – This recipe uses a ratio of 4 cups Rice Chex, 2 cups Corn Chex and 1 cup Wheat Chex. I like this combination because the 3 different varieties have different textures.
Cheese-It’s – I like Cheese-It’s best for the cheesy cracker add-in because they are crispier than say Cheese Nips or Gold Fish (which are possibilities if you prefer them) and they have a sharp cheddar flavor that lends itself well to this mix.
Oyster Crackers – Not just for soup! These buttery little pillows are a welcomed addition to the mix.
Pretzels – This recipe uses 2 different types to add some variety – mini sticks and mini twists. Thinner pretzels work best for Chex Mix.
Peanuts and Cashews – Nuts are always a good idea in Chex Mix, but they pair especially well with the curry seasoning in this mix.
Coconut – When you think of curry, coconut often follows close behind. It’s a unique, sweet addition that goes perfectly with this mix!
What Spices go Into Curry Spiced Party Chex Mix?
We use a butter sauce to bake the Chex Mix in that gives it a lot of flavor!
Curry Powder – Pretty obvious, the main ingredient in the spice mix is curry, making it the most prominent flavor.
Ground Turmeric – Adds some flavor, but it’s mostly added for it’s beautiful yellow/orange color.
Cumin and Coriander – Spices that pair well with curry and help enhance it’s flavor.
Garlic and Onion Powder – For an extra flavor punch.
Garlic Salt – Most of the add-ins are salted, but the Chex are not, adding the garlic salt makes sure the mix is just the right amount of salty.
