Ingredients
1/2 pound thick-cut applewood smoked bacon
1/2 cup maple syrup
2/3 cup dark brown sugar
Sandwiches
8 slices bread
1/2 cup apple butter
1 avocado
1 tomato
1 tsp sea salt
1 head romaine lettuce
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F
Line baking sheet with aluminum foil, make sure to wrap the aluminum foil around the sides and cover the whole pan for easy clean up
Place a baking rack on top of the lined pan
Lay the bacon slices on the rack in a single layer
Using half of the maple syrup, brush the bacon slices with a thick coat of maple syrup
Bake for 10 minutes
Remove from oven, flip bacon, brush other side with remaining maple syrup
Put back in oven, bake 10 minutes
Remove from oven, flip bacon again, rub bacon slices with half of the brown sugar
Put back in oven, bake 5 minutes
Remove from oven, flip bacon one last time, rub with remaining brown sugar
Put back in oven, bake 5 more minutes
Remove bacon from oven*
BLT
Toast bread
Spread a thick helping of apple butter on 4 of the bread slices
Slice avocado and tomato, sprinkle with salt
Pull apart lettuce leaves and slice into smaller pieces
Layer lettuce, maple glazed bacon, tomato and avocado on top of the bread with apple butter spread
Top with other bread slice
Notes
*You can make the bacon ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to 3 days
