Homemade Vanilla Extract

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans
  • 12oz Vodka or Brandy

Instructions

  1. Slice vanilla beans in half the long way
  2. Put halved beans in a bottle with a lid
  3. Fill bottle with vodka or brandy so all beans are submerged
  4. Leave in a dark, cool place for at least 8 weeks
  5. Shake bottle every 2 weeks
  6. Use in place of imitation vanilla extract in recipes

Notes

Leave the beans in the extract once it is ready. You may re-use them by just adding more alcohol.
