Homemade Lemonade 3-Ways
Summer thirst is real, REAL. Last week I had to get a Slurpee at 8:00am after my AM workout… well I didn’t HAVE to and I regretted it by 10am, but what happened was this… my gym sells a variety of sports drinks at the front door and you can charge them to your account. I was DYING of thirst on my way out of the gym so I tried to buy a Powerade, but I guess the card on my account was expired and I didn’t have my wallet with me so I wasn’t able to buy it. Rather than just go to my car and get my wallet I decided I would just go to CVS or something and get a drink on my way to the office. But the thirst made me a little loopy and I ended up in 7-11 Slurpee in hand by 8:00am…
To be fair I missed out on 7-11 free Slurpee day so I owed it to myself π Any who… I don’t advise a Slurpee as a breakfast meal replacement, but it’s just been so hot sometimes you need something sweet and refreshing to quench your thirst! I think one of these 3 Homemade Lemonades would be more advisable than a Slurpee, hehe π
(Pineapple Mint Lemonade)
I have 3 different lemonade combos for you today! They all use the same homemade lemonade base made with lemon juice, lemon zest, water and sugar. To this base a fruit or vegetable and a complimentary herb are added — Pineapple Mint, Grapefruit Rosemary and Cucumber Basil π
(Grapefruit Rosemary Lemonade)
They are all light, refreshing and delicious! At first I thought the Cucumber Basil was my favorite, but as time went on and the flavors got stronger I’d have to say Pineapple Mint was the winner for me! (which, if you know me, is probably not at all surprising π )
(Cucumber Basil Lemonade)
I like keeping them on hand to add a sweet splash to a glass of water or seltzer. They would also be a great party drink for your next summer BBQ, brunch or get together!
