Stove Top Holiday Pear Mulled Cider
Stove Top Holiday Pear Mulled Cider spiced with star anise, cinnamon and cloves. It’s the perfect warm, festive drink for your holiday celebrations!
Walter’s cousin made a mulled cider for Thanksgiving and it was such a warm, cozy and delicious addition to the feast! I had multiple cups and left knowing I wanted to share a Christma-fied version with you to have at your holiday celebrations! The great thing about having mulled cider available for your guests is that all you have to do is throw it into a pot and let it mull! Keep it warm on the stovetop and it will be available for your guests to self-serve as they wish!
Shopping List for Stove Top Holiday Pear Mulled Cider:
This mulled cider is not only easy to make, it’s also only 6 ingredients!
1 gallon high quality apple cider
6 whole cloves
4 cinnamon sticks
3 star anise
1 Bosc pear
whole cranberries (for garnish)
Tips for Making the Best Stove Top Holiday Pear Mulled Cider:
- Use a quality apple cider for the best flavor. Preferably something made with 100% apples with no other additives.
- Use a firm Bosc pear, the pear will eventually get really soft (you can skim it out off the top when this happens if you wish), so you don’t want to start off with a pear that is already soft.
- I like to add the spices straight to the pot because I like it to be very spiced! But if you would like some control over the spice level, wrap the spices in cheesecloth so you can remove them when it reaches your desired taste.
- Have extra apple cider on hand to add to the pot if it gets low during the party.
- I photographed the recipe in wine glasses for visual appeal, but it is best served in a heat tolerant mug.

Ingredients
1 gallon high quality apple cider
6 whole cloves
4 cinnamon sticks
3 whole star anise
1 Bosc pear, sliced and cored
1/2 cup whole cranberries, for garnish (optional)
Instructions

Warm over low heat to just below a simmer
Heat for at least 1 hour before serving**
Serve straight out of the pot, ladle into mugs
Garnish with cranberries (optional)
Notes
*If you want to be able to better control the spice level of the cider wrap the spices in a piece of cheesecloth, this will make it easy to remove them when the cider reaches your taste.
**You can keep it at this low setting for the duration of the party, if you are having a large gathering, add more apple cider as the pot gets low.
The pears will eventually get very soft, you may choose to keep them or skim them off the top
