Peanut Butter Banana Pup Cake

Today is our Little Layla’s 2nd birthday! I remember hearing from the breeder two years ago today that the puppies had been born and that we were first on the list for a female. We got lucky because Layla was the only girl in her liter! It is hard to remember our life before Layla. She is the sweetest, most loving dog with boundless energy and an endless supply of kisses.

Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Banana Dog Cake

I made this Peanut Butter Banana Pup-Cake to celebrate her birthday over the weekend. It’s a peanut butter banana cake topped with a creamy peanut butter greek yogurt frosting and decorated with an assortment of Milk-Bone biscuits.

Peanut Butter Banana Dog Birthday Cake

This cake is doggy heaven. TREATS & PEANUT BUTTER?! In Layla’s eyes nothing could be better! Well, maybe bacon, she does love bacon… but, luckily she’s not too picky about special treats and seemed very content with this years creation 🙂 (you can check out her 1st birthday recap here)

Peanut Butter Banana Pup Cake

They say that when a puppy turns 2 they are officially a dog and out of the puppy phase. That is 100% not true with Layla. The Vizsla breed is one of a kind in terms of their extremely high energy levels that keeps them fully charged with puppy energy which, we have heard, may never fade! With that, sometimes hard to control, energy also comes more love and companionship than we could have ever imagined.

Peanut Butter Banana Birthday Cake for Dogs

Layla was not a fan of her party hat at first, but once she dug into that cake all of her hat woes were forgotten. She embraced the hat and entered full party mode!

True love is sharing your birthday cake with your boyfriend 🙂

Dog Birthday CakeFirst they devoured the Milk-Bones, then licked off all the frosting and finally went to town on the cake. We probably should not have allowed them to eat the whole cake in one sitting… but you only turn 2 once right?!

Dog Friendly Birthday Cake

Happy Birthday Sweet Little Layla! Here’s to another year full of adventures, snuggles and treats 🙂

    • Thanks, Donna! Unfortunately I am not too familiar with cat’s diets… but I’m sure there is a way!

I recently made this for my dog Champ’s 9th birthday.

I baked some of it in 1 medium round pyrex and the rest in a smaller round pyrex, so I could layer the cake in teirs. I also added some blueberries to the frosting to make it colorful and because my doggos LOVE the bluebs!! Finally, I threw a few normal sprinkles on top and left off the dog biscuits.

I have 3 dogs and they all absolutely loved this. I did slice it up for them so that they would have some left over for today (and so they wouldn’t gorge themselves!). *Note that the cake is VERY dense, so when it is sliced, it might need to be cut up into pieces. One of my dogs tried swallowing her piece whole, which didn’t work out for her. We had to break it up for her.

This was the first time I ever made a cake for my dogs. Typically we just whip up a steak for birthdays. if you’re just browsing around considering making a cake for your dog, I highly recommend giving it a shot. This cake was very Quick and easy to make; and I personally had fun making it.

I think my dogs would each give it a 5 star review too!

MY Dog loved it but developed a severe allergy yo the wheat flour causing such sHaking Of his head From ear irritation thst now he has a HEMATOMA on both ear Flaps that may need aspirated tomorrow! The vet just started him on ear drops and prednisone for four weeks. Do not feed this to your dog! Too risky and expensive. It’s not worth it To see your poor baby suffering.

They turned out very well. didn’t add baking powder as its poisonous to dogs.

It’s only toxic in large quantities. They would need to consume more than 1 tsp per pound for it to negatively affect them. The amount used in baked goods is completely safe.
