What is Hummus
Hummus is a dip traditionally made from chickpeas, tahini (ground sesame seeds), olive oil, garlic and lemon. It is popular in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cultures. There are countless varieties of hummus flavors or adaptations you can make, but the base of chickpeas stays constant, it is the defining factor. Chickpeas are a great source of plant-based protein as well as fiber.
How to Make Loaded Greek Salad Hummus
To make this hummus all you need is a food processor! Add chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves and lemon juice, process on high. Slowly add the olive oil, the olive oil will help the hummus turn creamy and smooth. Once the hummus is smooth, add the spices – oregano, garlic powder and salt – pulse to combine.
It’s all about presentation! Transfer the hummus to a small serving bowl and top it with:
cherry tomatoes
red onion
kalamata olives
cucumber
feta
lemon slices
fresh oregano
Now it is ready for dipping!
How to Serve Loaded Greek Salad Hummus
I think this hummus is best served with pita chips, especially if you are serving it as a dip at a party. But you can also serve it with other vegetables, spread it on a sandwich or turn it back into an epic Greek salad by adding it to lettuce!
