Five Wedding Worries I Wish I’d Never Had
Five Wedding Worries I Wish I’d Never Had. Let me tell you the 5 things I wish I would not have let myself worry about leading up to our wedding day.
Hello! It is Wedding Wednesday once again! We are back home after a wonderful Honeymoon in Thailand! The past 3 weeks have been a whirlwind! I hope to get back into a more regular blogging pattern now that things are winding down.
5 Wedding Worries I Wish I Never Had
People tell you all sorts of things about how you may feel on your wedding day prior to your wedding day. But nothing can really prepare you for a day of so much overwhelming emotion and excitement. I wanted to share with you some things I found surprising and/or that I worried too much about prior to the wedding. Hopefully it will help some of you soon-to-be-brides 🙂
Weather Worries:
I spent the 3 weeks before the wedding checking the weather incessantly. There were nights I would wakeup in a panic that it was going to be cold and raining. I think this was partially because the weather was the one thing I could not plan or have control over and since everything else was planned and ready to be executed I made myself dwell on that which I could not control. Please save yourself the anxiety and stay away from your weather app! It did not matter that the high for our day was hovering around 40 and it may or may not have been flurry during our outdoor pictures after the ceremony. Come to find out, the photographer actually prefers cloudy days because the sun tends to wash people out and I was so high on emotions that I felt warm all day 🙂 (Thanks to my wonderful bridesmaids who endured the cold in strapless, chiffon dresses – you girls are the best!
Ceremony Nerves:
I was trying hard not to be nervous, but it is your wedding day and nerves are part of the territory. I felt very shaky in the back of the church waiting to walk down the aisle. But, as soon as I saw Walter standing at the base of the alter waiting for me they subsided. I was so engulfed in love that I forgot all about being nervous. The whole church ceremony I felt calm because I was only focusing on Walter and the priest. This shocked me, as I assumed I would feel nervous up in front of everyone and that I would be distracted by the crowd.
Control Issues:
You can’t control what you can’t control. No matter how much you plan and how organized you are something will inevitably go wrong. But no one actually cares and you can’t do anything about it so stop worrying about it!
Downtime Worries:
3 O’Clock (or whenever your ceremony is) will come quicker than you think – I figured that from 11:30am when we got back from the salon until 2:45pm when we were leaving for the church would feel like an eternity. I thought, my hair and make-up will be done and there is nothing to do but sit as still as possible and wait. Well, I blinked and the photographer was there and then I blinked again and I was walking down the aisle. Don’t worry about too much down time because that is not a thing on your wedding day.
Out-of-Town Worries:
With a lot of out-of-town guests coming in for the wedding we wanted to make sure things were as easy as possible for them. We wanted to make sure they had a fun, hassle-free time all weekend. Well, I can’t really say this will be true for everyone out there who is planning a wedding, but our hotels, especially the Simsbury 1820 House, went above and beyond to make our guests comfortable. Everyone was raving about the hotel and the customer service. They really made our guests feel at home. Which was a great added bonus, having not really known what to expect from the hotels.
(Special shout out to them for taking care of Layla during the wedding – she was clearly quite comfortable)
