Desiree’s Charlottesville Bachelorette!
Hello!
Happy Tuesday!
I spent this past weekend in Charlottesville, VA where I threw my friend Desiree her bachelorette party! Charlottesville ended up being the perfect location for our small group. We were able to rent a cute little Airbnb walking distance to the downtown mall which was super convenient!
We arrived mid-day on Friday and were able to get lunch in Charlottesville before checking in to our Airbnb. The Bride-To-Be requested burgers so we checked out Citizen Burger, a restaurant started in Charlottesville that specializes in burgers and sources it’s ingredients from local farms. Everyone enjoyed their burgers and agreed it was a great lunch spot!
After settling in and chatting for a while it was time for us to head out to Wine & Design, a paint party place right off of the downtown mall. It was raining when we were leaving, but it was so close by we decided to walk. About 50 feet into our walk it started pouring buckets… when we finally arrived at Wine & Design we were pretty soaked. Luckily there was a blow dryer handy for those that needed to dry off their dresses…
After drying off a bit we poured some wine as Paul, the artist leading the class, guided us step by step through how to make the painting of the day.
We had a lot of laughs as we tried to recreate Paul’s painting. Mine is the bottom middle and definitely the worst of the group!
After Wine & Design we went to Commonwealth for dinner. Everyone had the filet, except Desiree who opted for the pork chop as big as her face! No one was disappointed, all of the food was delicious!
On Saturday, after venturing to the farmer’s market for breakfast, we got picked up for a wine tour! We went to 3 beautiful vineyards – Pippin Hill Farm, Veritas Vineyard and Kings Family Vineyards.
Pippin Hill was picturesque! It has the most beautiful barn and the landscaping is impeccable. I also think the wine at Pippin Hill was my favorite.
Veritas had a very relaxed atmosphere and we were able to enjoy a picnic lunch. The vine at Veritas was a lot more affordable than Pippin Hill.
The actual winery at Kings Family was my least favorite in terms of architecture, but the grounds were so beautiful. They actually hold polo matches there every Sunday during the summer!
After our wine tasting we got to go out to their stables and say hello to the horses!
The biggest highlight of all though was our guide Ginny. She made our trip! She was so easy-going and never made us feel rushed or like we were burdening her in any way. I booked the wine tour through Wish Wish Wine Tours a company based out of Charlottesville that I have used before to book a wine tour in Northern VA. Our last tour with them was just OK so I was a little nervous about booking them again. I am so glad I did because Ginny went out of her way to make sure we had the best tour possible!
Later Saturday evening we met up with Ginny at her 3rd job!? She is a teacher, drives for Wish Wish Wine Tours and she works as a waitress – busy lady! She encouraged us to come out to the restaurant she works at on the downtown mall so she could continue the celebration with us!
We dressed up the Bride-To-Be in sequins, a crown and a sash! After dinner we hit the town for a night of dancing and debauchery 🙂
We all had so much fun celebrating the Bride-To-Be and can’t wait for the wedding in January!
