A Chocolate Covered Easter
Good Morning!
I hope you had a very Happy Easter yesterday if you were celebrating.
Layla and I started off Easter Sunday with a trip to see the Cherry Blossoms around the Tidal Basin in DC. We parked at Gravelly Point Park (the park where you can watch planes fly into and out of DCA) and then ran into DC, around the Tidal Basin and back. We went early, leaving the house around 7am, in an attempt to avoid the crowds… attempt failed… there were people and dogs everywhere. Layla has never seen so many people and was very excited, so I quickly snapped a few shots of the blossoms and we were on our way!
Later in the morning we went to church, which was about as mobbed as the Cherry Blossoms, we basically stood outside… but it was a nice mass. The priest talked about how when he was a child Easter was all about chocolate to him… I found this very relatable because having given up chocolate every year for lent I too relate Easter to overindulging in chocolate. Yesterday was no different…
Walter’s cousin is a big Pinterest fan and she made this adorable bunny cake. The only way to cut it and not ruin it is to cut each piece the width of a bunny 🙂
This was my piece… My eyes were way bigger than my stomach, but it definitely filled the chocolate void I have held for the past 40 days. Those Cadbury chocolate eggs on top of the cake are my favorite easter candy, the chocolate is SO, so good. Somehow they find a way to make chocolate taste even better, I don’t know how they do it!
I made a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Yogurt Bundt Cake. The cake is a recipe from The Spicy Perspective that you can find here, I topped it with melted dark and white chocolate to make it into a chocolate covered. Greek yogurt is the secret in this cake, it makes it super moist and dense! I will definitely be making it again.
Overall it was a great Easter filled with family, fun and chocolate!
How was your Easter? Have any fun treats?
